Why You’ll Love These Dill Seasoned Crackers
- Flavorful—Dried dill and ranch seasoning add lots of savory flavor to these crackers.
- Easy to Make—Simply toss the crackers in a seasoned oil mixture, bake them at a low temp, and toss them every so often—that’s it!
- Nostalgic Holiday Snack—Based on the crackers my grandma and mom made growing up, these are a cozy throwback for me—and a perfect snack to share with your own friends and family around the holidays (or anytime!).
While I know these dill seasoned crackers can be enjoyed year-round, they’ll always taste like Christmas to me. Growing up, my grandma and mom would make some every holiday season to set out at family parties—and every year, I would eat them by the handful.
This version, based on the crackers I loved growing up, uses mini saltines instead of oyster crackers. The crackers are tossed in a dill-forward seasoned oil mixture before being baked until crisp and golden. The process is easy and mostly hands-off, which makes these crackers perfect for holiday parties or whenever you want a quick, flavorful snack.
Dill Seasoned Crackers Ingredients
1. Crackers: I use these mini saltine crackers (grab them on Amazon) for this recipe.
2. Oil: The crackers are tossed in a neutral oil before baking. I prefer avocado oil, but feel free to use your own favorite neutral oil.
3. Seasonings: A mix of dried dill (of course!), ranch seasoning, onion powder, and garlic powder gives these crackers lots of savory flavor—with dill as the clear star of the show.
You might notice there’s more ranch than dried dill in the seasoning mix, but don’t worry—the flavor of these crackers is very dill-forward. That’s because ranch seasoning already contains dill (among other savory herbs), and the extra dried dill brings it to the forefront.
How to Make Dill Seasoned Crackers
1. Preheat your oven.
Preheat your oven to 250°F.
2. Prep the seasoned oil mixture.
In a small bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the avocado oil (or other neutral oil), dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, and ranch seasoning until well combined.
3. Toss the crackers in oil.
Pour the mini saltine crackers into a medium mixing bowl and pour the seasoned oil mixture over them. Gently toss the crackers in the seasoned oil mixture until they’re completely coated.
4. Bake the crackers.
Pour the crackers onto a half sheet pan and spread them into a single, even layer. Bake the crackers at 250°F for 25 minutes. Stir the crackers every 6-7 minutes to ensure even baking, flipping and tossing them with a spatula or spoon.
When the crackers are done baking, they should be a light golden color and no longer look shiny. Let the crackers cool (they will be hot!), then enjoy.
How to Store Dill Seasoned Crackers
Store these dill seasoned crackers in an airtight bag or container on the counter for up to a week. They’re best within the first few days—but, honestly, they never last much longer than that around here!
