Don’t make the mistake of mixing up this boom boom sauce with yum yum sauce or bang bang sauce or any other onomatopoeia-sounding sauces out there! Boom boom sauce is a mayo-based, sweet and spicy sauce that is super versatile and can be served with everything from burgers to onion rings, shrimp and more. It’s one of my favorites and, as a bonus, it’s ridiculously easy to make!
Boom Boom Sauce Ingredients
You’ll only need 5 ingredients for this super simple sauce…
1. Mayonnaise: I use plain old Hellmann’s mayo. While I have never tried alternative mayos (avocado or olive oil-based), this sauce is pretty flexible so go with your favorite mayo variety.
2. Ketchup: Adds some sweetness and acid from the tomatoes.
3. Sweet Chili Sauce: Adds even more sweetness, plus some heat.
4. Sriracha: I use a mix of Tobasco and Sky Valley srirachas in this sauce but feel free to use your own favorite brand(s). I start with 3/4 tsp and then add more if I want the sauce to have a bit more kick (or “boom”, if you will).
5. Garlic Powder: For a little extra flavor that pairs well with the sriracha.
